UK elections…You never hear from your representatives until they need your vote…

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Round here we haven’t seen our elected representative for years, then suddenly they’re shaking hands and giving out prizes as though the world will end tomorrow and you only get to heaven if you’ve kissed enough babies. Ahh, there must be an election. We can’t stand the deception of the UK ‘democracy’, a vote once every five years for a man you never see to enjoy a gravy train you never taste. In most parts of the country the ‘election’ is a foregone conclusion owing to the size of the incumbent’s majority.

Vote for me
So here’s an election T shirt design that sums it up!

US politics - becoming president

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

To a Brit it is a strange system where people can run for president without the backing of a party.  Here the leader of the biggest party becomes PM, end of story. An independent can try and get into parliament, though it is difficult without party backing, but there is no way that he could be PM. Which keeps out cranks I guess, or does it just stop independent minded people out and skew the job towards slippery-pole climbing politicos?
